Meet Our New Intern: The ABC’s of Kevin Bursey

Kevin Bursey is the newest member of the Center team, interning with Stacy on all things policy related! Check out his ABCs and get to know him a little better.

A is for Area Code: 559

B is for Breakfast. What did you have for breakfast today? Coffee with a side of egg whites.

C is for Calling. What do you consider your calling to be? I have always had a drive to help those who cannot help themselves.

D is for Dogs. Do you have any? My favorite dog passed away, and I can’t quite bring myself to invest my love into another one yet.

E is for Energy. What do you do when you need more energy? Doing push-ups and drinking coffee always seems to boost my energy.

F is for Fun. What do you like to do for fun? I love to play sports, the outdoors, and going to new places.

G is for Greatest Accomplishment. What is yours? Consecutively making the Dean’s List in college.

H is for Hometown. Where are you from? Madera, California.

I is for Interesting. Name one interesting fact about yourself. I am a CrossFit competitor.

J is for Job Title. What is yours? I am the Tobacco Policy Intern for the American Lung Association in Sacramento.

K is for Kids. Do you have any? I have no offspring.

L is for Learning. What have you learned working at the American Lung Association thus far? Thus far, I have learned how to track progress on local tobacco control policies and how to accurately grade cities based on their progress.

M is for Millions. What would you do if you had a million dollars? I would use it to pay off all my incoming student debt.

N is for Need. What is one thing you need or couldn’t live without? I could not live without my family. Their constant support has helped me achieve so much in my life.

O is for Occupation. What was your occupation before coming to the American Lung Association? I worked for the Sacramento State Aquatic Center as a Dock Master!

P is for Pet Peeve. What is yours? Patronizing.

R is for Right or Left? Are you a rightyor a lefty? Righty!

S is for Siblings. Do you have any? Yes, I have a brother who is three years younger than me.

T is for Treat. What do you have/do when you want to treat yourself? I like to cheat my diet with a little “froyo” every now and then.

U is for Useless. Do you have a useless talent? I can do handstands really well, which is completely useless in life.

V is for Vacation. What is the best vacation you have been on? I have been to many places, but my favorite vacation was a trip I took to New York City with my dad.

W is for Work. What made you decide to apply for a position with the American Lung Association? I am interested in public policy and there was an opening for my current intern position that is policy based.

X is for X-Ray. Have you ever had one? Why? Yes, I thought I broke a bone once and went to have an X-Ray done.

Y is for Yummy. What is the yummiest food you make? I make the yummiest peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the entire world.
