Last month Vanessa and I were lucky enough to attend the National Conference on Tobacco or Health (NCTOH). Vanessa created an AWESOME poster on our new Capitol Information and Education Days Guide, while I conducted a presentation on using social media strategically in your policy campaign.
The Center team has been contemplating how to tackle social media in a way that is useful to advocates for some time. There are already some great social media 101 trainings (in fact, CYAN has perfected them) so we wanted to do something different. We wanted to create a training that looked at social media from a strategic point of view and really give people an idea of how to take all that they learned from their 101 trainings and apply it to a policy campaign.
Using our own experiences with social media we have put together a fun and interactive training along with a handy matrix to help guide people determine which social media tool they should use at which phase of the campaign.
Prior to the NCTOH we were able to conduct a 2 ½ hour pilot training on using social media in your policy campaign with some of the Los Angeles contractors and had a lot of fun doing it. So when we heard news that our abstract for presenting this info at NCTOH had been accepted, we were thrilled!
It was great to be able to share this information with people from across the country. It’s been really exciting hearing from people in Minnesota and Florida who want our presentation and are eager to learn more.
So my question to you is: Do you want to learn more? Contact us to learn more about this new and exciting training and find out how we can help your coalition advance your policy using social media!
